Vienna Anthro Map:

Bibliotheques, the Museum of Anthropology and Vienna archives. I thought this one might be of help for students and visitors to Vienna. I was looking for the museum library´s address, recently: The museum is being renovated, nobody knew where the interim entrance to the library was. One of the officers there took me to the Director´s office, an assistant finally explained, that at the back of the house, there I was to get what I was searching for. Suggestions are welcome!

Ausstellung: Benin - Koenige und Rituale

Eine sehr empfehlenswerte Ausstellung findet im Museum fuer Voelkerkunde statt. Dieser kleine Leopard aus Elfenbein, aber auch Masken, Bronzen oder Schmuck werden ausgestellt. Das Photographieren ist ohne Blitz erlaubt, im Museumsshop koennen diverse Repliken erworben werden. Bis 3. September 2007 taeglich - ausser dienstags - von 10:00 Uhr an.

Auf der neu gestalteten Webseite des Museums finden sich einige, grundlegende Informationen zur Ausstellung: http://www.ethno-museum.ac.at. Sehr interessant zu betrachten sind die Videos, die zum Abschluss der Ausstellung gezeigt werden. Die Technologie des Metallgusses wird Schritt fuer Schritt und gut nachvollziehbar dargestellt.
